Views of Trauma

 

 

In using dolls as stand-ins for children, as some therapies do, these images attempt to evoke an uncomfortable atmosphere.  The collective nostalgic representation of childhood is traditionally playful and happy.  These dolls illustrate the struggle, the pain, isolation, nightmares, and the memories of those who have grown out of trauma.

 

These images encourage viewer empathy while representing one adult’s interpretation of childhood trauma.
